Alaska 2012
Art and I returned to fish in Alaska during July & August of 2012. Once again we used Alaskan Widespread Fishing Adventures as our guides. We fished for six days, including a float trip down the Kasilof River, multiple trips along the banks of the Kenai River (all for sockeye salmon), a halibut trip off Anchor Point, and a fly-out trip to the Upper Kustatan River for silver salmon (coho). We came home with 26 lbs of silver fillets, 53 lbs of halibut fillets, and 113 lbs of sockeye fillets.

Although there isn't any real skill involved when fishing for halibut (except of course on the part of the captain in knowing where to find them), it pays to be lucky. Art and I caught the two biggest fish on the boat (30-40 lbs) as well as two around 20 lbs. The other four fishermen were not as lucky. (Check out one of their fish behind Art.) The yield from our four fish easily outweighed that from their eight.
